On March 22nd, I spoke to Richmond City Council on creating an anti-racism policy along with another Richmond activist. You can listen at the mark, 1:13-1:33. It's worth listening also after we finished speaking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEzsojn3f_Q

The City of Richmond has over (76.3%) of Richmond’s population identified as a visible minority. The crime stats from Vancouver show anti-Asian hate crimes are up 717% over the past year. Richmond does not track this data. This requires immediate action. We should be leader in implementing anti-racism policies. Municipal governments, share responsibility and have an important role to play in combating racism and discrimination and advocating for equitable and just city for all citizens.

Some of the cities that have implemented an anti-racism policy: Vancouver, Victoria, New Westminster, White Rock, North Vancouver. Delta
